Bethany Caitlan Nicole is a Los Angeles based photographer, artist & filmmaker whose work explores a chilling sense of beauty in the twisted & melancholy. Her style has developed over years in the entertainment industry, starting when she was signed to Seattle Washington’s Heffner Model Management Agency at the young age of 6. While balancing a modeling career, she was a magician’s assistant for the Nathanial D. King Conjuring Show in Pike Place Market & appeared in Frasier’s 100th episode. Now in LA, pursuing her passions, she has quickly established a recognizable style. The surreal worlds & characters she creates are often very intricately detailed & each photograph seems more than just a 2-dimensional image but a lively realm you may be inclined to step into. A prolific crook of souls & inventor of dream worlds, she uses coffee as the steam to power the gears that constantly spin. Her work can be identified by the consistent use of cool tones, shadows & raw emotion seen in her subjects. Inspired by such filmmakers as Guillermo Del Toro, Tim Burton & Steven Spielberg, she hopes to follow in their peculiar footsteps as she plans to create several films of her own in the future. When she isn’t delving into her work, she can be found collecting oddities, practicing her sarcasm skills and indulging in artistry from gifted virtuosos she admires. As well as a passion for the visual arts, Bethany finds endless inspiration is the vast world of music and can almost always be witnessed ignoring you, with her headphones on. Her musical fondness lies mainly with anything dark and whimsical but also encompasses the classics, such as David Bowie and Led Zeppelin, which she grew up appreciating at a very young age. When her schedule allows for it, in between photography schemes, she writes her own music, as well as sings. Additionally, she has a fervent interest in outer space and the enigmatic discoveries man has made there. A strong believer in other life among the stars, her photography is understandably influenced by this and her love of space seems to be one of the reasons her imagination and vision for conceptual photos has no limit. Furthermore, her love of literature is evident in her knowledge on predominantly obscure things that only the most cultured person would dare to know. She is sometimes funny by accident and will often be unaware she has made a joke until everyone starts laughing. As well as mastering charming trickery in her youth, being a magician’s assistant, she’s also successfully cheated death at least 15 times on file, sending her on her way towards earning her seat with Houdini as being an escape artist many only daydream about. Perhaps this fact has helped develop her comfort and gravitation towards death and demise, making it an intrinsic component of her artwork and style. But you mustn’t be too fooled by her appearance. While she has a passion for the darkness, she’s often vivacious and lively in everyday life. And while she appreciates that she can consistently craft visuals that leave most in a daze of admiration, she would be just as happy if you’d buy her a cup of coffee.
